"Uky and Lola", animated feature inspired by the Selk'nam cosmovision, eyes Punta Arenas premiere
After nearly two decades of development, the animated feature enters production with a 2027 premiere planned in Punta Arenas.
"When people talk about the Selk'nam, they're usually associated immediately with their extermination. We wanted to put the focus on their cosmovision and on the magic of their legends."
La Prensa Austral covers the production launch of Uky and Lola, in Tierra del Fuego, an animated fantasy-adventure feature rooted in Selk'nam cosmovision. The story follows two young protagonists who must restore the cosmic balance using ancestral powers, with its premiere planned for Punta Arenas in 2027.
The outlet highlights that the initiative is developed in partnership with Universidad Mayor with a multidisciplinary team, and notes that the production is currently seeking new strategic partners and funding to close a total budget estimated at USD 1.55 million.
